“Le Lycee de San Francisco in Iceland.”
Dear parents,
The Lycee Francais de San Francisco is proud to launch,
“Le Lycee de San Francisco in Iceland.”
This is an exceptional opportunity for the Lycée Français.“Le Lycee de San Francisco in Iceland.”
Thirty-seven students from the 10th grade classes will travel to Iceland in May, 2018, to study Iceland – climate change, geothermal energy, and much more.
Why Iceland ?
Iceland is a model for the future. When you want to do something great, you find the best example out there, you study it, and you copy it.
Iceland is the best in the world when it comes to:
- Politics - the country collectively decides their new Constitution
- Democracy – the citizens decide on their future after the 2008 crisis
- Economy - the country chooses a more sustainable and environmentally friendly development
- Environment - 85% of their energy is renewable
- Gender equality men and women receive equal pay in every field
- Research - researchers have invented a technology to trap CO2
This program is chance for all of our LFSF community to become ambassadors to the world.
In Iceland, we will be producing:
- our discoveries on web TV, daily, to hundreds of lycees around the world
- a 26-minute professional documentary, a first for the LFSF
- a gallery of photographs by a National Geographic photographer
- a possible traveling exhibition, opening in Paris at the Good Planet Foundation
- Laurent Le Gall, documentary filmmaker
- Catherine Karnow, San Francisco based National Geographic photographer
We are very pleased that renowned photographer and internationally known director, Yann Arthus-Bertrand, has endorsed our project: “Everyone is responsible for our planet and must help to protect it in whatever way he or she can.”
Henri Landes, the director of Yann Arthus Bertrand’s foundation, GoodPlanet, is a former SFLF student.
